This N' That

Well, it has been awhile since I have blogged anything. I must say, I truly do miss Yahoo360. Even though I didn't blog alot there near the end, it was nice being able to check out what was going on in the lives of my yah-buddies. Personally, I think Yahoo screwed up big time when they got rid of 360 and replaced it with yahoo profiles.

Not much going on here, that is super exciting to the outside world anyway. It's been a busy few weeks here, with the adjustment of being back to school. Bigger adjustment for me, as now my kids don't go to the same school, so means more travelling for me in the morning. Mini-me is in HIGHSCHOOL ~~GASP~~, so it has been a bit nervewracking knowing she is Uptown where there are weirdos and fruitloops. Not to say the area we live in doesn't have weirdos and fruitloops (I live here don't I?), but the Uptown area has a wider variety, not to mention higher concentration, of weirdos!! I use to work up there, I KNOW!!

My "Baby" just had a birthday this week, he turned ten years old! Can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday that I was pregnant with him, feeling him trying to bust out my chest like those damn suckers in the movie Alien with Sigourney Weaver!! Personally, I think the 20.5 inches he was born at was how long he was at 5 months in utero, based on the pains I was having in my ribs. Ahhhh, the memories!

Mini-me is adjusting well to the new world of Highschool and of having a cell phone ~~cringe~~. I had to break down and get her one (after being continually harassed for three years), so she had a way of contacting me in an emergency, what with her being up around the above mentioned weirdos and fruitloops!! I will say, it does serve as a great blackmail tool! Bad grades? Phone gone! Don't pass in assignments? Phone gone! Go over your minutes and cost me more money? Phone gone! Anyone looking for leveredge over your teen, I highly recommend a cell phone. Texting is their lifeline!! Silly me, all the time I wasted as a child actually PHONING or going over to CALL FOR a friend! Man, we had it rough! She will be turning 14 in a few weeks and is wanting to go see the group Marianas Trench which is playing here a few days before her birthday. She is desperately trying to find a friend to go with, as she sure as hell doesn't want her "old" mom going with her! (secretly hoping none can, so I can tag along, snickersnicker).

Hubby is....well....hubby. He works, he eats, he shits, he sleeps, not much changes with him. Just like a baby!! 'Cept the working part. I still am convinced that is why we are still married, he isn't home enough for us to kill one another!

On the "out-law" front, the father-in-law is like a house of cards, with a bomb exploding in the basement! Now the doctors says he has had several mini-strokes, which have left him with Primary Progressive Aphasia, that the two arteries in his neck (leading to his brain, boy that explains alot) are over 90% blocked, but "they don't do surgery until you have some bad symptoms from it", and his most recent bomb, he apparently has some lesions on his leg that turned out to be skin cancer which he goes to get removed the end of the month. SEE PEOPLE, THIS IS WHY YOU NEVER RETIRE! YOU FALL ALL TO HELL. On a happier note though, he is easier to be around since the Aphasia makes him forget how to be insulting to you!

On the family issue, ugghhhh, more family functions are required for the next month. One of my cousins is due to pop end of October so they just had a baby shower for her at my aunt's place last week. Boy was THAT fun (oh how I miss Yahoo smileys, especially the eyeroll). Her mom is the one who reminds me of Paula Abdul in all her "I-am-not-a-drug-addict" glory! Her other daughter and her have not been speaking for about a year, and since that other daughter is getting married the end of next month and she isn't invited and apparently some in the family think they are going to boycot the wedding cause they think it is their decision who should be invited, I mostly went for entertainment value! I shoulda had a V-8!! So next on the family docket will be the bridal shower, with possible boycotting family, then us all getting together to make food for the reception, then the wedding! I just may turn into an alcoholic yet damn it!!!
